Eliminate Fecal Contamination in Fort Myers Waterbodies

Billy’s Creek and Manuel’s Branch within the City of Fort Myers have been known hot-spots for fecal indicator bacteria (FIB) for decades.

Despite ongoing restoration efforts by the City of Fort Myers and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, FIB pollution levels remain concernedly high.

Restoration could take decades at the current rate of progress. Meanwhile, the public is not being adequately notified of the risks.
